The long awaited Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, Japan opens it's doors 2nd October 2024. For those lucky enough to get a ticket, what can you do there?

This week legendary game designer and creator of Super Mario Bros and The Legend of Zelda Miyamoto Shigeru presented a video with Nintendo showing the first look at the new Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, Japan.

Built on the historic site where the factory for Hanafuda playing cards, the origin of Nintendo as a company, the Museum boasts an interactive experience displaying a wealth of Nintendo products produced throughout it’s history, from consoles and games to board games and even a child stroller!

You’ll be able to view the evolution of The Legend of Zelda games from the first title up to Tears of the Kingdom in sequence on rows of screens, where each screen has directional audio so you only hear the music for that game as you stand in front of it without being distorted by the audio on either side.

Upon entry, visitors are given 10 coins to play some of the interactive game experiences. But note, unfortunately the 10 coins won’t be enough to play in all the exhibits, and you won’t be able to purchase more, so you would need to be selective in the games you choose.

Interactive games you can play include a Zapper and Scope shooter, giant controllers you can play as two players in a Mario Platformer to a batting cage where you can hit ping pong balls at household and Nintendo themed objects in a Japenese inspired living room.

In addition to this, for an extra fee there is a crafting station where you can take workshops to create and design your own Hanafuda playing cards that you can learn the rules for and then play with your friends and other visitors.

As expected, the popularity of the Museum opening is so strong that tickets are only available via a randomly selected draw. However, I would imagine after the initial wave of popularity dies down, it will be much easier to book tickets for the museum.
