Story

The game is really a tidying and organising experience, rather than being story led. But really a game like this doesn’t need a story. The puzzles are various household items that need to be arranged or sorted from tasks that we would all recognise from our daily life, from sorting pantry jars to organising the cutlery drawer. The aim is to find every item’s exact place and position, but as all pet owners will relate to, a mischevious cat often gets in the way of your organising and you have to fix their messes, from pawprints on the carpet to smashed vases.

Gameplay

The gameplay is fairly smooth, you grab the item you want to move and place it in the most aesthetically pleasing position. I found that most items were intuitive and clicked into position, and any that didn’t were just because I hadn’t quite solved the puzzle yet. Some puzzles are slightly more challenging than others, but the vast majority were fairly simple to complete. The real enjoyment of completing a level however is the satisfaction of a well organised space. There’s additional accessability options too to get hints for any puzzles you’re stuck on, or you can skip levels completely and come back to them later. With the game’s main selling point being a relaxing experience, this helps a lot to prevent any unnecessary frustration.

Graphics and Visuals

The visuals are all hand drawn in a really pleasing and cute design. Each section of the house seems to have a slightly different colour scheme, but all fit within a lovely pastel tone and fun details. The music is atmospheric but relaxing, and adds to the overall zen like experience of solving short puzzles.

Longevity

The game has over 100 levels, so there is plenty to keep busy with. If you’re just focussing on the main objectives, it can be completed in around 4 hours. Since it’s release, there has been updates to the game to add in a Daily Tidy Mode, with a new puzzle every day that is a varient of one of the puzzles within the game. If you really enjoyed the game, there’s also 2 DLC packs to add on extra levels.

Conclusion

A Little to the Left is a charming and relaxing puzzle experience, and there is great satisfaction in organizing household items. The hand-drawn visuals and soothing soundtrack are effective in creating a cozy atmosphere. However, some puzzles may feel overly simplistic or occasionally tedious, which can detract from the overall enjoyment. The inclusion of a mischievous cat adds a playful element, though its interference is minimal. With over 100 levels and additional content through updates and DLCs, the game provides ample content for those who like low-pressure, methodical gameplay. While it may not fully live up to the hype to me personally, I did enjoy the game, and is a great addition to the cozy puzzle genre.
